Born from lived experience. Built for lasting change.

Launchpad Futures CIC was born from our desire to create a ripple effect of positivity, transforming lives one kind gesture at a time."

Our Story
Our Foundation
Launchpad Futures CIC began with a simple truth: the people closest to problems are closest to solutions. Co-founded in 2025 by Christopher Welford and Carina O'Brien-Welford, our organisation emerged from lived experience and genuine need for systemic change.
Christopher, who lives with dyslexia and Cauda Equina Syndrome, and Carina, who manages an autoimmune condition, understand firsthand the multiple barriers disabled people face in employment, education, and daily life. Their personal experiences drive our commitment to creating genuine solutions, not temporary fixes.

Building Our Team
The founding directors came together through shared values and collaborative work within Liverpool's disability community. Christopher and Carina connected with Harin Ellis, a passionate disability rights advocate with cerebral palsy, through two years of campaign work. Their company, Constellation Marketing Solutions, provided pro-bono support for Harin's advocacy, building the trust and shared vision that would become Launchpad Futures.
When Harin consulted with Lumiere Charity to develop their fully accessible soft play centre, the collaboration expanded to include Linda Clarke, whose safeguarding expertise and deep understanding of children with disabilities proved invaluable. Kate O'Brien-Fay joined as a director, bringing years of experience in early years development, family support services, and her own lived experience of ADHD. Karen Skaife completes our board, providing independent oversight and financial governance expertise.

Our Evolution
What began as Launchpad Magazine - now reaching 2.1 million readers monthly - has evolved into a comprehensive vision for systemic change. We're developing 17 integrated services designed to work together, ensuring no one falls through the gaps that many of us have experienced firsthand.
We're not another organisation discussing disability inclusion from the outside. Our board represents physical disabilities, chronic health conditions, and neurodivergent experiences. This isn't tokenism - it's expertise that shapes every decision we make.
